“If your dream only includes you, it’s too small.” ~ Ava Duvernay
NOTE: I spend my Wednesdays Unplugged from appointments. It’s my day to stay home, enjoy cooking and welcome our kids and grandkids for dinner in the evening. We end our meal with quotes from the Norwegian ‘Quote Cup’ passed on to me from my grandmother. I share a quote and a recipe here each week, along with an update and photos of what has been going on in our lives. I love trying new recipes…and love getting recipes you would like to share!
Summer is the time for family gatherings, and we recently spent a weekend in North Dakota for a reunion of the descendants of my husband’s mother’s family. There were 11 children in the family… not what I would consider too small. Being an only child, I can’t even imagine it. Needless to say, it was a large gathering… including “Adelaide’s Three Sons” (the one in the middle is my hubby John.)
RECIPE OF THE WEEK
After gathering with Adelaide’s Three Sons, it seems only right to share her recipe for homemade ice during this string of hot summer days.
ADELAIDE’S HOMEMADE VANILLA ICE CREAM
- 4 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 6 cups milk
- 4 cups light cream
- 2 tablespoons vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Beat eggs until light, adding sugar gradually and continuing to beat until mixture thickens. Add other ingredients and chill until ready to churn in ice cream freezer… and eat!
