Decortating your Home After the Holidays

You know that time of year when you just put your Christmas decorations away and you haven't brought your normal stuff back out? Your house is looking a little bare and maybe you are liking the uncluttered look. Or maybe you can't wait to get everything back out and in it's right place.

This is the perfect time to give your home a new look without spending any money!  It is amazing how the simplest changes can bring a fresh look.

First, look at how your furniture is arranged. Perhaps you had to move the furniture to make room for your Christmas tree so before you put it back to where it has always been, think about a new arrangement.

Can the sofa go in a different spot? Can the chairs be moved around? There is nothing easier for a new look than shifting your furniture.

Next, put all your accessories in one big pile on the dining room table. I mean ALL your accessories . Grab them from your living room, family room, office, dining room, bedrooms, etc. Now…..put each piece out in a DIFFERENT place than it has ever been before. Think outside the box. Mix things up. Be daring.

I love mixing up my accessories and getting a new look. When people come to my home they always comment that I have new things and I don't. It is just in a different place!

Play music, get inspired, push the right side of your brain. Even if something may not be in what you think is a perfect spot, that's okay. Just let it be different. Maybe you will want to add a couple new things to finish a look but at least it will have shown you that things can be used many ways and in many places.

Have fun….I would love to see some photos of what you created!
