Well, we went to see a play/musical called "Elephant & Piggie's We Are in a Play!" with our children and grandchildren. Being old I didn't know anything about Elephant and Piggie, but the kids did! They had a grand time and so did the adults! It's moments like this that I get this strong feeling of appreciation for those who put all this together. Earnest, creative people found donors and sponsors to put together this small theater group dedicated to expanding hopes and dreams of youth. Together they combined their talents and passions to grow and expand continuously until, here we are! And I'm certain it will keep growing!
As I understand it, The Children's Theatre Company in Minneapolis began in 1965 as The Moppet Players, which was a small company and did creative dramatics, dance and theater for children. The Moppet Players moved into the Minneapolis Institute of Arts building in 1975 and was incorporated as the Children's Theatre Company. The Theatre's reputation was built on a history of adapting classic children's literature and storybooks such as Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Peter Pan the Musical, Pinocchio, Bert & Ernie, Goodnight! Additionally the company has been praised for its fabulous accomplishments in the areas of scenic and costume design. Today, CTC is recognized as North America's flagship theater for young people and families as well as a major cultural and artistic resource in Minnesota. CTC has been dedicated to advancing the art of theater for families and young audiences for almost 50 years.
Enjoy the pictures and check out a performance or two. Find this treasure in the city!
