The City Council of Crystal voted to repeal its Point of Sale Inspection last week. This means if you are selling a home in Crystal a city inspection and any associated required repairs will no longer be required.
The repeal is effective September 26, 2015, which means properties closing after that date will not require a city inspection. Any home owner who has applied for and paid for a city inspection before that date will get a refund, provided the inspection has not already been completed.
Brooklyn Park also repealed its point of sale inspection a couple years ago. To my knowledge this leaves the following cities with some form of city inspection required at time of sale: Bloomington, Golden Valley, Hopkins, Maplewood, Minneapolis, New Hope, Osseo, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park, St. Paul and South St. Paul.
If you have questions about a specific listing in Crystal, please contact Crystal’s Community Development Director John Sutter at 763.531.1130 or john.sutter@crystalmn.gov.
