Typical homesellers… 2013 saw some changes

The National Association of Realtors compiles an annual profile of buyers and sellers. We took a look at characteristics of homebuyers in Minnesota and nationwide last week and today we take a brief look at homesellers.

Sellers in 2013 were typically older, had a lower household income and were more likely to be married than in recent years.

Here are some other characteristics of 2013 home sellers…

8 years in Minnesota
9 years nationwide
6 years in 2007

Used a real estate agent to assist in the sale

95% in Minnesota
88% nationwide

Delayed selling because property was worth less than mortgage

23% in Minnesota
13% nationwide
