We are so lucky to have access to so much locally grown food in the Twin Cities. Minnesota Grown, the local foods website of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, lists 946 sources… 42 of them within 10 miles of Minneapolis. Many of them are local Farmers Markets and we have an abundance of them.
Check out what is close to you, but if a ride on the light rail is appealing, consider a stop at Midtown Farmer's Market at Lake St E & 22nd Ave S. It is located near the transit stop for easy on-off access… open Saturdays 8 to 1 and Tuesdays 3 to 7. They also have entertainment, with a schedule on their website of what to expect at the market each week.
If you want to do an LRT Farmers Market circuit, the Mill City Farmers Market on the downtown riverfront is a short walk from the light rail… and the granddaddy of them all, the Minneapolis Farmers Market is a short walk from the last stop at Target Field.
Enjoy eating fresh and healthy… and having a fun outing! I grew up on a potato farm and it makes me think of my mother asking me to run out to the field and dig up some potatoes for dinner… talk about fresh!
