I have been in San Francisco this week, enjoying both a great Inman Real Estate Connect conference about the latest in real estate technology and the joys of being in San Francisco. Below are a few tidbits from this week.
From the conference…
- More than half of Internet usage is now happening on portable personal devices rather than on desktop computers
- This change can be likened to the shift from silent movies to talkies, like BW to color TV, from stationary to ubiquitous, from formal to casual
- Real estate market is starting to see sporadic surges in activity, symbolic of a market that has bottomed out
- Cool new tool just launched in time for the conference to help find your perfect neighborhood based on attributes which describe your ideal neighborhood… which you also prioritize… I may add to my website
- Down Payment Resource, which is a tool I have blogged about and is integrated into our own MLS, won Most Innovative New Technology award yesterday
From San Francisco…
- This is the San Francisco summer of Paris a century ago with outstanding exhibitions on Gertrude Stein and her family, their salons and collections… and the Picassos Pablo kept in his own private collection (which we also saw plus a few more at the Walker Art Center exhibition in Minneapolis in 1980)… worth the trip just for these exhibitions!
- Filled my husband's craving for salted caramel ice cream (started by Izzy's in St. Paul) at GELATO on Columbus
- Awesome mozzarella buffalo at Rose Pistola, nearby on Columbus
- Walked and read Jack Kerouac alley by City Lights bookstore
- Great night of live blues and eats at Biscuits and Blues
- Another great stay at the intimate European style King George Hotel near Union Square
