Minneapolis named one of the 10 Best Trips of Summer 2011 by National Geographic

Minneapolis1 It's pretty cool to be sharing a list of top destinations with places like Patagonia, the Azores and the Stockholm Archipelago. In fact, when National Geographic Traveler editors hand picked their top 10 out-of-the-ordinary trips, Minneapolis was one of only three from the United States.

  1. Muskoka Cottage Country, Ontario, Canada
  2. Patagonia, Argentina
  3. San Juan Islands, Washington
  4. Minneapolis, Minnesota
  5. Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska
  6. Cardiff, Wales
  7. Stockholm Archipelago, Sweden
  8. Azores, Portugal
  9. Roatan, Honduras
  10. Istria, Croatia

Some of the reasons they picked Minneapolis are its "pedestrian-and-pedal-friendly downtown and Midwestern vibe"… like Nice Ride, the nation's largest bike sharing system… over 13 miles of trails around the famous Minneapolis Chain of Lakes… and the Stone Arch Bridge, the only stone bridge over the Mississippi and now a pedestrian and biking bridge.

After months of winter, we take full advantage of our summers with arts and music festivals all summer long… and who could forget awesome Minnesota Twins baseball!

If you are fretting about taking an awesome trip this summer, fret no more… if you live in the Twin Cities you are already here!
