When considering a home to buy a question that often comes up is the impact of airline noise on a particular home. The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) has a couple interactive maps that are particularly helpful in determining how flight patterns affect the metropolitan area.
You can enter a specific address on the MAC website at http://bit.ly/7osKiw and it will place the address represented by a house on a map with the airport noise footprint and flight patterns so you can see how the property might be affected by air traffic.
As you can see from the map, you can be quite close to the airport without being within its noise footprint or under any flight paths… and some demand neighborhoods are directly under busy flight paths.
Flight Tracker interactive map gives the flight paths for a particular time frame… at http://bit.ly/igCc0b. Not only can you get static flight paths, you can also see specific flights streaming as animated planes flying on the map in near real time.
