The Minneapolis-St. Paul economy in 2009-2010 ranks sixth in US metropolitan markets and 44th among 150 global markets, according to a recent report by The Brookings Institution. The report lists the Twin Cities as on the "road to full recovery".
The latest report ranking the Twin Cities 44th worldwide for the "recovery" period of 2009 and 2010 shows a dramatic improvement. In the "pre-recession" period 1993 to 2007 Minneapolis-St. Paul ranked 98th, and during the "recession" period of 2007 to 2009 it ranked 102nd.
According to the report, the only United States metropolitan areas with economies performing above Minneapolis-St. Paul in the "recovery" period of the last two years are Austin, TX…Virginia Beach, VA… Washington… Dallas… and Baltimore.
