The charming Bryn Mawr neighborhood just east of downtown Minneapolis and between Cedar Lake and Theodore Wirth Park is considered by many to be one of the city's best kept secrets.
With parks, trails, lakes, highways and downtown Minneapolis all nearby… plus its own small-town center… this neighborhood has a strong sense of community and sponsors annual events throughout the year including the Saturnalia Festival in December and their renown Festival of Garage Sales in May. Residents will be happy to tell you how much they enjoy living here.
Our son and daughter-in-law really loved stopping at Cuppa Java on the corner of Penn and Cedar Lake Road when they lived in the neighborhood… and inspector Reuben tells me Fast Freddie's (aka Bryn Mawr Pizza and Deli) across the street is one of his favorites. Other neighborhood shops include the quirky Cockadoodledoo with a unique collection of old and new.
Bryn Mawr Meadows park on the eastern edge of the community has great downtown Minneapolis skyline views and the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary on the western edge is a wonderful place to lose yourself and forget you are so close to the heart of the city. Not only are you only 3 minutes to downtown Minneapolis, you are also only 5 minutes in the opposite direction to St. Louis Park's West End with shopping, dining and movies.
Part of the charm of Byrn Mawr is its diversity of housing styles… including tudors, Victorians, colonials, bungalows, ramblers and contemporaries. The neighborhood has a low crime rate and many of its residents are professionals who work out of their homes.
