Wednesdays Unplugged – French and Blue Cheese Salad Dressings

NOTE: I spend my Wednesdays Unplugged from appointments. It's my day to stay home, enjoy cooking and welcome our kids and grandkids for dinner in the evening. We end our meal with quotes from the Norwegian 'Quote Cup' passed on to me from my grandmother. I share a quote and a recipe here each week, and sometimes some photos of family fun. I love trying new recipes…and love getting recipes you would like to share!

We are in the midst of our winter birthday marathon in our family. Whoever has a birthday gets to choose the menu for the week, and last week was the start of three weeks in a row. We celebrated our daughter's birthday last week and she chose fondue… beef and shrimp, pineapple, with chocolate fondue for dessert.

Her favorite salad has always been iceberg lettuce with French and blue cheese dressings. This week's salad dressing recipes both come from, with the French dressing from Rachel Ray and the blue cheese dressing from Ina Garten… both absolutely delicious!

  • Dressing-frenchbluecheese 3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and white pepper

Mix in blender on high until dressing is combined.

  • 4 ounces good Roquefort cheese, chopped
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons tarragon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Mix in food processor with steel blade to desired consistency.
