Sunday’s Site – Parkers Lake Park, Plymouth

NOTE: see the bottom of Sunday's Site posts for homes for sale in the area

Plymouth, MN was named America's Best Place to Live by Money magazine in 2008, in part because of its extensive park system with 1,200 acres of park land and more than 100 miles of trails. Parkers Lake Park is one of its city parks, located at 15205 County Road 6 just west of I-494 and near the beginning of the 30-mile Luce Line State Trail.

Parkerslake

In typical Minnesota fashion, this park is located on a lake…and is used year round. When I stopped by on Friday I saw people jogging on the trails and dogs out walking with their humans.

Parkers Lake Park has ice skating and a warming house for winter fun…and a swimming beach, canoe rentals and fishing in the summer. The park also includes trails, volleyball courts, picnic shelters, a playground, and a building available for rental. Summers bring free live music, dance and theatrical performances as part of Plymouth's annual Entertainment in the Parks series.

Parkerslake-townhomes There is a cluster of apartments and several different townhome associations just north of Parkers Lake Park, whose residents get to take ready advantage of the park and the nearby Luce Line trail.
