Time to get Pre-Approved for a Home Purchase?

Even with the frigid weather upon us, spring is right around the corner and that means nicer, longer, sunnier days and a great time to buy a home!  With home prices reduced and interest rates at 40 year lows, home ownership is looking more attractive to many buyers than it has in years.

Anyone who is considering buying a home should begin the pre-approval process one to two months prior to looking for a home.  The goal is to have this process complete before you start shopping for your home.  Being pre-approved gives you the confidence that financing can be secured, and it potentially increases the negotiating power between a buyer and seller because you have become qualified buyer.  There is usually no charge to get pre-approved and buyers generally learn some important information about home ownership financing ahead of time.

If buying a home is part of your New Year’s resolution, improved opportunities may be around the corner for you in today’s real estate market.
