As the days grow colder and shorter in Minnesota we find ourselves seeking out indoor recreation sites. In addition to many commercial fitness centers throughout the metro area many Twin Cities suburbs have their own community centers such as Veterans Memorial Community Center, which is part of the Inver Grove Heights parks and recreation department.
When I stopped for a quick visit yesterday afternoon I found lots of activity…the indoor water park was filled with families having a great time and both ice arenas were in use…I saw a young girl entering the center with hockey stick in tow.
In addition to the indoor water park and two ice arenas the community center includes a fitness center, gymnasium and meeting rooms. They offer many youth and adult programs and sports.
In Minnesota we don't stop activities in the winter…just make a few changes along with the seasons…giving great variety!
