Springtime in Minnesota

A chart of our Minneapolis average daily temperatures since spring officially arrived on March 20th looks as challenged as our market conditions.

If you are new to Minnesota you may wonder if spring will ever come, but those of us who have lived in the north country our whole lives know that it will eventually get here…it just takes more patience some years than others.

It’s not that spring hasn’t been trying to come, it just keeps having setbacks. 100_0610_5Farm babies at the  Minnesota Zoo is one of our signs of spring, and we had a fun time there with our grandchildren on a weekend of 50 degree weather…followed by 5.5 inches of snow for the Minnesota Twins season opener…even the ducks were confused!

In spite of snow on 10 of the 22 days since spring officially arrived, we have assurance that it will eventually warm up again…both in temperature and in real estate…and in the meantime there continues to be both plenty to talk about and opportunities on both fronts.

A trip to Target Center for an event in downtown Minneapolis is an experience shared by many Twin Citians, and our visit yesterday with 3 generations to see the Harlem Globetrotters was a fun way to spend a windy, chilly afternoon after a morning out showing houses.

It was also a reminder of staying power…the Globetrotters have been around for 82 years and are still going strong! Real estate has been around even longer than that and in spite of occasional bumps along the way the long-term trend has always been upward…it just sometimes seems to be as fickle as our Minnesota weather.
