What re-charges you?

My inbox today contained an email message asking: We want to know….What RE/CHARGES You?!  It came from RE/MAX and involved a contest submitting a video which I don't plan to do, but it got me thinking… precisely because I feel so re-charged today.

I think it's interesting that the question doesn't ask what YOU DO to re-charge, but rather simply asks what RE-CHARGES YOU… implying that you are the receiver rather than the do-er.

Energize

I think of re-charging as a continual life process of many things… including these things that have re-charged me in the past week…

  • Learning from a client about an opportunity to support the Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute… made me smile, a local non-profit tutoring and creative writing center for youth right here in the middle of the continent, far away from any oceans…
  • A serendipitous morning exploring the quaking bog in nearby Theodore Wirth Park with our grandson, and encountering and chatting with a woman relocating from New York checking out Twin Cities neighborhoods… I love introducing people to our metro area that is a such a wonderful blend of urban, parks and nature, arts, sports, booming foodie restaurants, craft beer… the best of everything in a 'small' big city…
  • Being impressed by the welcoming, socially aware spirit of a church we visited…
  • Getting a call from someone who found my online posts about 'Tyrol Hills'… turns out she shares my love of mid-century modern homes and we have had some delightful conversations… I am excited for our tour this Sunday and can hardly wait to learn more about the architects…
  • Regular Wednesday night dinner with our children and effervescent grandchildren…
  • Getting a referral from a woman I work with who has told me that I always have the nicest clients… she is right, I am re-charged by all the wonderful people I get to work with…
  • Having a dear artist friend coming for a stay with us this weekend and spending the day doing our own private art crawl on Saturday…
  • Getting a call from a man who told me I came up 2nd on Google when he searched for Windsor Green, 2nd only to the association site… and being able to tell him I am meeting tomorrow with someone in Windsor Green planning to sell soon…
  • Meeting with a couple selling the home her mother and father built about 50 years ago… another referral of the nicest people…
  • Spending the day working with associates Angela and my husband, John… nurtured by the peaceful wooded creek view from my desk with a train quietly rumbling by on the elevated track across the creek… even after 15 years, this peaceful setting where we live and work nurtures me daily…
  • Writing my blog posts that help me learn and connect with both myself and others…
  • Discovering and signing up for a new REALTOR Designation course to be Old Home Certified… I can hardly wait…
  • Having a client share a new listing near them, then invite me stop by with buyers after seeing the house so they can tell them about the neighborhood…
  • Thinking about my inspirational mother who would have been 100 years old today…

What re-charges me comes from learning, connecting, sharing, creating, appreciating… nature, the city, individuals… I am truly blessed to be in this place with this wonderful cloud of people around me. Thank you for re-charging me… simply by reading this today.
