Wednesdays Unplugged – Cinnamon Applesauce

NOTE: I spend my Wednesdays Unplugged from appointments. It's my day to stay home, enjoy cooking and welcome our kids and grandkids for dinner in the evening. We end our meal with quotes from the Norwegian 'Quote Cup' passed on to me from my grandmother. I share a quote and a recipe here each week, and sometimes some photos of family fun. I love trying new recipes…and love getting recipes you would like to share!

  Old photos

My husband has been busy going through old photos, sorting and putting together a group to be digitized. It's a huge job… I appreciate that he is doing it. We had several inches of snow again last night… hard to believe it will be spring in a couple days!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

This is a very simple recipe, one that has been a staple of mine for about 40 years. I love homemade cinnamon applesauce with pancakes, oatmeal, for dessert, with crackers… especially love it when it is still warm.

CINNAMON APPLESAUCE

  • 4 cups peeled and sliced cooking apples, such as Granny Smith Applesauce
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

In large saucepan combine apples, water, cinnamon and cloves. Cover and cook over over low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender. Stir in sugar. Serve warm or cold.
