Jax Cafe… outdoor patio dining not to be missed

Jax Cafe and Bar has been a Northeast Minneapolis supper club tradition since the 1930's… but it is the lush outdoor patio with a stream where you can net your own trout for dinner added in the 1950's that really sets it apart.

Walking in and seeing the dark wood bar and classic steak house atmosphere with live piano music or Frank Sinatra crooning in the background makes you feel like you are stepping back in time… or onto the set of Mad Men.

The huge parking lot across the street is a testament to its popularity, and the mix of ages from the very young to the very old makes this a great special occasion gathering spot for all generations. The patio is a great place for kids to be entertained watching the waterfall and fish in the stream… and in the evening it becomes the perfect spot for a romantic dinner, with some tables tucked away into private corners. Be aware that smoking is allowed on the outdoor patio if that is a concern… but they are very accommodating in helping you find another table if that becomes an issue.

This isn't where you go to get the latest foodie trends or a quick meal, but if classic steak and seafood served in a relaxed atmosphere while sipping a martini is what you are looking for this is the place… it is brimming with Old World charm and class. They are known for their expansive Sunday brunch… and 2012 specials include $30 fresh Maine lobster on Sunday evenings. Their banquet rooms host wedding receptions and groom's dinners every weekend… it's a special occasion destination where many memories are made.

Experience this Northeast Minneapolis tradition at 1928 University Ave NE, Minneapolis,MN55418.
