This past week 'Where is HomesMSP?' highlighted Mexican restaurants throughout the metro area . My goal was to not only share longtime family and city favorites, but also discover a wonderful new Mexican restaurant. My new discovery was the fantastic Dominguez Family Mexican Restaurant and Grill in the Nokomis area of south Minneapolis!
I had read good reviews of this restaurant and decided to pay it a visit last weekend. Given the location, I was expecting to find a typical storefront in an older two-story building. What a delightful surprise to find this small, brightly colored restaurant with a man and a donkey welcoming us.
The interior was brightly painted as well, filled with colorful wall murals and spotlessly clean. This is a small family owned and operated restaurant, and you could really feel it in the warm welcome and attentive service. I asked our server if members of their family also did the painting… she assured me they did. We ordered the fresh fish tacos and enchiladas de tres on her recommendation… great choices, both delicious and wonderfully fresh!
We love Mexican food and were delighted to find this authentic Mexican restaurant using fresh ingredients and traditional family recipes handed down from generation to generation to add to our list of favorites.
I just learned they are soon to be featured on Twin Cities Live, just in time for Cinco de Mayo. Tune in to watch them prepare a dish live… or stop by and have them cook for you at 3313 E 50th Street in Minneapolis. What a neighborhood treasure!!
