This is Wednesday, my day to be unplugged. This week I am really unplugged…in NYC for a conference and some 'play' time…not where most people think of going for a winter getaway, but one of my favorites places!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK
I made this French toast for breakfast last Wednesday, on New Year's Eve morning, and was asked for the recipe…here it is!
OVEN BAKED FRENCH TOAST
recipe from Byerly's
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup half-and-half
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 12 slices circle cinnamon bread
- Maple syrup (optional)
- Strawberries (optional)
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Melt butter in a 10" x 15" jelly-roll pan. Combine eggs, half-and-half, honey, nutmeg and vanilla in bowl, beat until smooth and pour into a 9 x 13 pan. Arrange bread over egg mixture and turn slices to coat evenly. Let bread soak until egg mixture is completely absorbed. Transfer bread slices to buttered jelly-roll pan. Bake until golden brown on each side (4-5 minutes per side). Serve with maple syrup and/or strawberries.
