We were in downtown Hopkins on Friday evening, a small western suburb not far from Minneapolis known for its outstanding school system. Its downtown Main Street has a real small town feel, with charming shops and restaurants. It is home to one of my favorite Italian restaurants, Trattoria Michelangelo…a small local family owned restaurant with deliciously fresh food…the owner/chef is from Naples.
Unfortunately we didn't stop there on Friday. The reason we were in Hopkins was to see the world premiere adaptation of Tom Hegg's book, "Peef the Christmas Bear", with our kids and grandkids…we opted to eat at the very kid friendly Big Ten instead!
Stages Theatre Company, located in the Hopkins Center for the Arts on Main Street, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary Season this year. It's another example of the many wonderful arts opportunities we have in the Twin Cities metro area. Stages is a company "committed to the enrichment and education of children and youth in a professional theatre environment that stimulates artistic excellence and personal growth". It was the first live theater experience for our young grandsons and it was as big a delight to see their excitement as it was to watch the show…even set changes were fascinating!
